Group discusses law on gay history
(Redlands Daily Facts) More than 50 people attended a workshop Saturday on the Fair Education Act (Senate Bill 48) in the courtyard of Citibank.
Organized by PRIDE - Pride Redlands Identity Diversity Equality - the discussion attracted parents, teachers, students and those interested in learning about the law, which was passed in June and became law on Jan. 1.
The new state law requires that the contributions of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community must be included into the teaching of history in public schools. Adam Price, student and founder of the gay pride club at Redlands High School, said that the organization plans to work with the district in discussing what are the best ways to help implement the lessons in "age-appropriate" classrooms, what the law recommends as well.

Merck-funded scientist pushes HPV vaccine for boys despite absence of proof of efficacy
(LifeSiteNews) A researcher who has been a consultant for the manufacturers of the controversial Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine has conducted a study using money from the one of the companies that purports to show that boys are more likely to contract oral HPV than girls.
Dr. Maura L. Gillison, a professor at Ohio State University who has worked as a consultant for Merck and GlaxoSmithKline, was the “principal researcher” for the study, which was itself funded partly by Merck. She is not being coy about the conclusions she wants the public to draw from the results.
“The new data should give parents more to think about as they consider whether to vaccinate their children—especially their sons,” says Gilson, in the words of the LA Times. The paper goes on to quote her verbatim as saying, “Some parents may have felt that the risk of HPV infection wasn’t relevant to them. But this study shows 1 in 10 boys has an infection that can lead to a cancer.”

Mother challenges viewing of Internet porn at library; girl saw it
(Seattle Times) She was so flabbergasted at what she saw on the computer screen at the Lake City branch library that Julie Howe, mom to two elementary-school girls, remembers the exact time.
The screen was displaying Internet porn of the very nasty kind, and it was showing up on a public computer readily seen by people in the area.
Howe later would email a manager at the library system about how her oldest daughter had reacted:
"I had a 10-year old crying in bed last night because she doesn`t understand what she saw on the screen at the library where the man in the blue jacket was sitting, and it makes her feel weird & scared inside. This is not right."

Girl Scouts Use Cookie Dough for Political Activism
(Family Research Council) It looks like liberals finally got caught with their hands in the cookie jar! After people like FRC`s Cathy Ruse started exposing the connection between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood, more customers are pulling their support from the annual fundraiser. One news outlet in Idaho, says more than 200 people have complained, bringing cookie sales to one of their lowest points. Shelli Rambo Roberson, the CEO of the local Council, claims there`s no partnership. It`s just a "rumor," she told reporters.
Not so, says Cathy, who has plenty of documentation from a special U.N. "Girls Only" workshop co-hosted by Planned Parenthood and the Girl Scouts. The workshop included a graphic sex manual called "Healthy, Happy, and Hot," full of ideas too pornographic to repeat. It`s part of a joint project to bring "better sexual health" to girls as young as 10. And while some troop leaders are committed to raising women of integrity, we can`t turn a blind eye to the Girl Scout headquarters, which is bombarding girls with topics like abortion, contraception, and homosexuality.

Calif. DMV to help `normalize` homosexuality?
(OneNewsNow) An ex-"gay" leader says California legislators are trying to sneak through approval of a method to fund homosexual indoctrination in public schools.
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) recognizes a handful of license plates that generate funds to benefit different organizations. And under a proposed bill, license plates that fund the state`s anti-discrimination policy would be added to the list.
AB 1539 would mandate the DMV to create license plates to fund the California Department of Education`s efforts to operate supposed "anti-bullying" programs in schools. But as the California Family Council (CFC) points out, the anti-bullying "message" has been used to promote homosexuality and alternate lifestyles, and this measure would direct that focus to lesbian, "gay," bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students.

Sign our petition urging Congress and the Obama Administration to take action to end the purging of Christianity from the military.
(Family Research Council) It`s happened again.
In a move that`s reflective of the Obama Administration`s continuing track-record of hostility toward Christianity, Lt. Gen. William Boykin (USA, Ret.), was recently pressured to withdraw from speaking at the United States Military Academy at West Point. General Boykin had been preparing to speak at the West Point Prayer Breakfast about the importance of prayer in a leader`s life. The Academy moved Boykin to pull out of the event when a handful of atheist and Muslim cadets complained about Boykin`s beliefs. The message to this elite, three-star warrior was obvious: You and your faith aren`t welcome.
General Boykin is an American hero. There are few who would be more qualified to speak at a West Point prayer event. A former Delta Force leader who has faced danger for his country on missions in places like Iran, Somalia, and Grenada, General Boykin is also a man of deep Christian conviction. It is his outspoken faith that has made him a target of groups like the Council on American Islamic Relations, who lodged a complaint with West Point, which led to Boykin not speaking at the event.
(Family Research Council) This isn`t the first time that an outspoken Christian has been booted from military events. Just over a year ago, I was disinvited from an event at Andrews Air Force base because of my biblical views. Before that, evangelist Franklin Graham`s invitation to a Pentagon prayer service was rescinded because he too spoke the truth about his faith. These high-profile snubbings of religious expression are only the tip of the iceberg. The Obama Administration is advancing an environment of religious disarmament among the military -- and it must be stopped quickly for the sake of our soldiers` spiritual lives.
You can help the brave men and women of our military. Please join with me in signing our petition that calls on Congress and the Obama Administration to take action to ensure that America`s brave warriors have access to free and full expression of their faith.

(Mercury News) A federal appeals court on Thursday refused to allow the public release of the videotapes of the historic Proposition 8 trial that led a judge to overturn California`s voter-approved gay marriage ban.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the arguments of media organizations and same-sex marriage advocates, saying the trial judge in the Proposition 8 trial had offered assurances that the videotapes would remain under seal.

Cancer charity reverses decision to cut off Planned Parenthood
(The Hill) Susan G. Komen for the Cure on Friday reversed its decision to cut off grant money to Planned Parenthood, following an intense backlash from women’s groups and the political left.
The policy change does not guarantee that Planned Parenthood will receive funding from Komen but will allow the organization to apply again for grants next year.
Planned Parenthood said it was “enormously grateful” for the reversal and eager to resume its work with Komen, the country’s leading breast-cancer charity.

Obama hears pro-life message at prayer breakfast
(AP) President Barack Obama has attended the National Prayer Breakfast, where the keynote speaker spoke out against abortion.
Christian author Eric Metaxas gave Obama his biographies of William Wiberforce, who fought to outlaw slavery, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who stood up for Jews in Nazi Germany. He then asked: "Who do we say is not fully human today? Who is expendable to us?" Metaxas suggested that only God can open people`s eyes to see the unborn as human beings, and urged pro-life advocates to love those who disagree with them.

National Atheist Ad Campaign Targets Black Community
(Christian Post) Atheist organizations from around the country have taken to billboard advertising to promote their views and their organizations over the last few months, but a new campaign by one atheist organization is focusing on reaching one group of people in particular: African-Americans.
"A lot of people think there`s one black experience. A lot of people think that if someone`s black it means that they`re religious. So we want to be able to show people that that`s not true, that there are non-religious people out there," Debbie Goddard, director of African Americans for Humanism (AAH), told The Christian Post on Wednesday.

Mohler says insurance mandate not just `Catholic` issue
(ABP) – A Southern Baptist seminary president applauded Roman Catholic bishops for refusing to obey an insurance mandate forcing employers to offer coverage for contraceptives and sterilization, and predicted that evangelical leaders will soon face similar choices.
“Our religious liberty is being similarly subverted and attacked,” Albert Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, said of the Obama administration’s inclusion of pregnancy in “preventive services” that health insurers must provide.
In his daily podcast briefing Jan. 31, Mohler commented on a letter from bishops read in Catholic churches Jan. 27 stating in part, “We cannot -- we will not -- comply with this unjust law.”

(NY Daily News) State lawmakers - backed by a conservative Christian group - are trying to force the city to allow religious worship services in public schools.
Legislation pending in the Senate and Assembly would overturn the city’s policy banning churches and other religious groups from using school buildings for worship services and would allow them whenever they’re “deemed not disruptive of normal school operations.”

Arizona bishop: Catholics ‘will not comply’ with Obama birth control mandate
(LifeSiteNews) In a letter to Catholics in his diocese this weekend, Arizona Bishop Thomas Olmsted appeared to urge the faithful to civil disobedience against an Obama administration mandate requiring Catholic employers to include coverage for contraception, including abortifacient drugs, and sterilizations.
“Unless the rule is overturned, we Catholics will be compelled to either violate our consciences, or to drop health coverage for our employees (and suffer the penalties for doing so),” he wrote. “We cannot – we will not—comply with this unjust law.”
