|SB 18 & SCR 41
|Title: Bill of Rights for the Children and Youth of California
Current Status: SB 18 is now a 2 year bill and the earliest it can be voted on is Jan. 2018. The companion resolution, SCR 41, can be voted on anytime and the only action is to oppose SCR 41. (Downloadable pdf: PAGE 1 & PAGE 2)
Position: OPPOSEWhen SB 18 was originally introduced, it listed 7 “rights” that the bill`s author believes should be enacted for all CA children. After much controversy, the original SB 18 was amended and has now simply become a bill designed to form and fund committees that will determine the "rights" of all CA children. Nonetheless, we strongly oppose this legislation and action is still required. Read more...
