Help Protect Family Privacy
AB 2754 BILL FAILS IN THE
ASSEMBLY EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Wednesday, April 25
BILL IS NOW "DEAD"
AB 2756: Is a data mining bill to gather information about private home school families. One aspect of the bill has the state collecting the names and home addresses of all home school families and publishing that private information, most likely on the California Department of Education website, along with the list of other private schools.
Why “publish” the names and addresses of home school families on the California Dept. of Education website? There is no valid reason for violating the privacy of any family, but one can only speculate that it is meant to intimidate families that have chosen to keep their children out of the public school system.
Urge your Assembly Member to vote “No” on AB 2756 because it violates family privacy and safety.
Read AB 2756 HERE.
AB 2926: States an advisory committee would be established to make recommendations to the California Superintendent of Education and the State Board on the feasibility of imposing additional requirements for home school families, which shall include, but will not be limited to, the following:
1) Minimum qualifications for homeschool parents/instructors.
2) Additional content or curriculum standards.
The advisory committee, Superintendent, and State Board of Education will then make recommendations to the state legislature for imposing the additional requirements which could eliminate private home schooling as an option for most parents.
Urge your Assembly Member to vote “No” on AB 2926.
